Sen. Darrin CAMILLERI (D-Trenton) and Rep. Jaime CHURCHES (D-Wyandotte) hosted a public town hall this evening in the Westfield Activities Center in Trenton, discussing how the “cost crisis” affiliated with prescription drug costs could be possibly remediated with a state prescription drug affordability board (PDAB).
Camilleri was one of the sponsors behind Senate legislation to create a prescription drug affordability board, or PDAB, which would be composed of five Governor appointees and responsible for reviewing one or more prescription drug products based on their distinct costliness.
The bills, which were passed in the Senate by partisan lines and are sitting in the House, would allow for a potential scenario where the PDAB could set upper payment limits, capping how much a drug can be purchased or billed for by third-party payers or product purchasers in Michigan (See “Prescription Drug Affordability Board Passes Senate,” 10/4/2023).
Churches and Camilleri were joined by Trenton Mayor Steve RZEPPA, American College of Physicians member Dr. Brittany TAYLER and Executive Director Justin MENDOZA of Universities Allied for Essential Medicines.
